A TIME TO RECHARGE
Written by Joni Lakes. Friend of God’s Great Outdoors
Psalms 105:1
Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done.
This morning as I reflected on the goodness of God and thought about all the things He has done for me, it brought my mind to our recent trip to Rushing Wind Camp in Northwest Ontario, Canada. This is the fly-in camp that the God’s Great Outdoors board of directors meets at each summer for their summer board meeting. It is an amazing place for fishing, fellowship and rest. The fishing was spectacular and the fellowship was better.
From our verses today from Psalm 105:1 its good to give God praise and let the world know. And when you give Him praise even during life's trials, it shows not only that God has been faithful before and He will be faithful again to you and me but it also shows God OUR faithfulness for Him.
We were having a very difficult time prior to going to Canada and even considered not going (Satan does this every single time before we go up there because HE knows God is ever present there and the Holy Spirit is palpable). and being around brothers and sisters in Christ refreshes the soul in amazing ways.
We decided to go ahead and go, and everyone would be fine here for the 9 days we were gone. And once again, God showed up. While we were there, we had time to read and hear God's Word, reconnect with some great outdoor friends, see our "family from the north" again, and give God the glory for being the Creator of ALL of this. The beauty of our earth that He created with His glorious hands is breathtaking at times. The sunsets are stunning, the eagles flying by are majestic, the loons floating around and their lowly crooning, the lilly pad and its delicate flower floating atop the still lake, the frog eggs gathered on some lake weeds that will soon become more mature and sing us to sleep at night, the colorful dragonfly that flits around eating the dreadful mosquitoes and lites on the pontoon floor for our viewing, and our outdoor friends who we get to reconnect and cherish for being models of Christ and mentors for us.
We always know we have these friends to lift us up in thought and prayer when we ask, even if they are hundreds of miles away, and we will do the same for them. God put each and every one of these things and people in our lives...for such a time as this. So we can say "Satan, you have NO power here because look at OUR God. He is FAITHFUL to us. So quiet down and go back to where you came from, because God is MY Father and it is Him I will serve!
And now when you remember all the great things God has done for us, you can KNOW He will do great things again.
Have a blessed day.
