BETTER, NOT BITTER
Galatians 6:2
Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
We were so excited. I had just called in a big 6x6 bull elk and my friend harvested it with his recurve bow. It was an amazing experience that ill never forget... but then the work began.
Carrying a heavy pack on a hunt can really be a burden. The extra weight makes everything tougher. I find that the pain in my hips after climbing with a pack on my back can be excruciating. However, training before a hunt with a pack on is a way to not only get accustomed to the weight but it also puts us in better shape for the upcoming challenges. We can decide to make that extra burden into something that makes us stronger for the future, or something that just weighs us down.
We all carry some sort of burdens in our lives. In the verse that proceeds the one above (verse 1) it talks about a friend that is caught up in sin. When we see this we are to come alongside, not to share in the friends sin, but to help carry them, helping to restore that friend.
If we allow someone to carry their own burden in a sinful pattern they may eventually be totally worn out from that sin and end in a completely broken life. But, if we come alongside them and help them carry the burden to restoration, the healing may come more quickly.
So often as we carry a burden in our own lives, we look at the burden and instead of learning from it we become bitter over having to have carried it.
Don't use your past burdens as a reason for why you are bitter. Use your past burdens for a reason for why you are better today.
