False Teacher
Matthew 7:15: "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves."
Shortly after the new year, my wife will resign herself to tolerating another three months of turkey calling in the house. Most of it is done with a mouth call, but I do practice with a pot call and a box call too. As callers go, I'm better than many, but I've listened to the boys at the NWTF Grand National Calling Championship, so I know what good calling sounds like. Fortunately for me, the only judges I need to impress are those spring gobblers, and every year I fool a few.
For me, calling is the fun of turkey hunting. I've ambushed a couple, walked up on a few, but the vast majority of those birds I've had to coax into gun range. It's a rush getting inside the head of a big old gobbler. If you can learn to do that, you can take em home.
As Christians, we are constantly receiving false messages too. Sometimes everything looks legit and sounds so good, but just like that gobbler, we can get fooled.
John 4:1 "Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world"
This scripture directly addresses testing everything against the Word of God. It tells us to examine the teachings against what Scripture shows is true.
