FEELING CONTENTMENT
Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
It's Nov 15th and if you live in Michigan or have ever hunted here, you know what that means. It's opening morning of the firearm deer season. Some hunters wait 365 days for this day as if it were Christmas morning. The one thing most hunters here hope for is a couple of inches of snow and cold weather to make deer movement, visibility and hunting better.
A few days ago we had sunshine, the perfect temps and 1" of snow... but to the disappointment of thousands the snow has melted.
Disappointment, discouragement, concern, worry and other similar emotions are all too common to most of us. We might try to stay positive but the negatives keep coming back. We know down deep that God has control and wants the best for His children... but yet we doubt and fret.
God wants you to be happy where you are, with what you've got. Hebrews 13:5 tells to "Be content with what you have; for he has said, 'I will never fail you nor forsake you'".
According to Google, the word for "content" or "contentment" is made from two Latin words, con and tenere, meaning "to hold together." When you have faith in God, your mind will "hold together" so well that you can recover from disappointment and discouragement. If you always remember that God is on your side, you can be content with whatever comes your way. And out of that kind of contentment great things can happen in your life.
So, I'm sitting out here this morning in the thick fog in the dark, waiting for daylight... no deer were moving on my camera all night... But I can be content with whatever God has for me... because I know that, "all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose".
No discouragement here.
