GOD'S STRENGTH AND OUR NEED TO FOLLOW HIM
Psalm 73:26
"My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."
We were in a little 12 ft long pram pushing our way between the Lake Superior ice flows. The younr Chinook salmon were in the harbor and they usually only stay a few days. We were bound and determined to get a bunch of the desirable red-fleshed fish in the freezer. This included taking the chance of getting crushed by the giant chunks of great lakes ice that were coming and going around our little boat.
Sometime in the past I heard Dr David Jeremiah talk about the strength of God in our lives. He spoke about the 1000's of icebergs flowing around Greenland. Some are tiny and some gigantic. There are times when the little icebergs are flowing one direction while the larger ones are flowing in the opposite direction.
If you watch the flow you will see that the small bergs are being carried by the winds and the direction changes often. You will also notice that the bigger bergs are flowing with the currents and they stay the course and aren't moved back and forth by the winds of change.
Psalm 37:23-24: "The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand."
Those of us that are relying on the strength of our Lord will stay the course. He will direct our lives and we won't be moved to and fro by the the world's movement.
Rest in the knowledge of God's strength in our lives.
