HE SEES OUR STEPS

Joel Raygor and Dean Hulce

Job 34:21
For his eyes are on the ways of a man, and he sees all his steps.

Over the years I've spent countless hours glassing outcroppings, thickets, fence rows, ravines, prairie grass and big timber looking for big bucks. Sometimes I've been successful in spotting them before they spot me, but often I've moved too soon, only to watch them bound away and disappear.

One early morning in Wyoming on some public land, I'd spotted a buck and after a two hour stalk, I'd worked into position and glassed the hillside below me. Just when I was about to give up and get up, thinking he had probably moved on, he turned his head and the sun reflected off his antlers. He died right where he lay, at less than one hundred yards.

In life, I wonder how often I've moved or given up too soon, when maybe another minute, another hour or another day would have brought different results. It's reassuring to know that God already knows our every day and our every move. Always remember that regardless of what happens tomorrow, God sees all our steps.

In Psalm 139:16 we read,  "Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them."

We can rest assured that God has a plan for the life of every one of His children. We can also be sure that He allows for our free will.  He knows all of what will happen in our life and His hand is on us.  Wait Him out and allow His had to guide us in His timing.
