HERE I AM LORD SEND ME
Judges 7:2-3
The Lord said to Gideon, "The people who are with you are too many for Me to give Midian into their hands, for Israel would become boastful, saying, 'My own power has delivered me.' 3 Now therefore come, proclaim in the hearing of the people, saying, 'Whoever is afraid and trembling, let him return and depart from Mount Gilead.'" So 22,000 people returned, but 10,000 remained.
As a guide, my hunters are always asking for my advise. They want to know where to hunt. Because of trail cameras today I often know on which stands there are big bucks on a daily basis. I'm very confident that if a hunter will go to the spot that I tell them, they will be successful. This is the same situation for Gideon and his army. God knew the outcome and He told Gideon as much.... He was just wanting to show the Israelites that they could trust Him to do what He said.
This chapter of Judges goes on to tell how God lessened the number of Gideon's army down to only 300 men. When they came to the camp of the Midianites they were "as numerous as the locusts; and their camels were as numerous as the sand of the seashore".
And what happened? God gave all of the 10's of thousands into the hands of Gideon's army (only 300 men); and without drawing a sword that night. God had it handled. He had told Gideon that He had delivered them into his hand. That was past tense, to show He had gone before the army. God had the job in hand and all He asked was obedience.
This shows us that God doesn't need our power and strength, HE doesn't need our money or our gifts. God needs our trust and dedication to Him. He wants our love. God showed Gideon that even if he was afraid, HE had him covered.
We so often feel we "have to" do something great but God wants us to watch Him do something. We want to accomplish something for God, but He wants us to trust that He already has it taken care of.
When God asks you to do something for Him, just realize that He has already taken care of it... He just wants us to answer, "here I am Lord, send me".
Isaiah 6:8
Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?" Then I said, "Here am I. Send me!"
