IF YOU’RE BORN TO HANG

Job 14:5

A person’s days are determined; you have decreed the number of his months

and have set limits he cannot exceed.

The Bible tells that out days are numbered and no one knows the number of their days.  I know there are arguments on if God predestines everything in our lives or not, but over and over again in the Old Testament the writers write about God knowing our days.

Does this mean we can go out and purposely do stupid stuff that could shorten our lives?  Absolutely not!

It is made clear in, Matthew 4:7...

“Do not put the Lord your God to the test".

My dad had a saying that he used often and I now use it as well.  It goes, "If you're born to hang, you'll never drown".  This saying wasn't mocking God, it was to say, our time is already measured out by God, I'm not going to stop living because it might shorten my days.

So how should we live?  Live every day as if it could be your last, but live it for God!   Throughout my life, I've heard it asked many times, "If Christ were to return today, what would He find you doing?". Or a better question might be, "If Christ returned today, where would He find your thoughts?".

This always scared me.  Where were my thoughts today? Or at times, was I someplace I shouldn't have been?  But, in all reality, Christ already knows your thoughts, He knows all about you.

So live each day like it's your last, but live it as if Christ is going to ask you, "what have you been doing for me?". Be prepared with an answer.  Not just any answer, but an honest answer.  For me I want that answer to be, "I've been living each day for you!"

With that, I would like to ask for prayer for a health issue.  I’m not sure what God has in store for me at this time…  but I’m confident that He has a plan for my life and whatever that plan is, I can count on Him.

So, "If you're born to hang, you'll never drown.". So live, for God, like there is no tomorrow.
