KEEP FISHING

Matthew 4:18-20
As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 19 "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will send you out to fish for people."  20 At once they left their nets and followed him.

I love to fish...  It is very relaxing for me.  I'm not sure of many things more relaxing than sitting on a bank or in a boat wetting a line.  The only thing better might be a meal of fresh fish. We can sit in the living room or on the deck and talk fishing for months on end, we can dream of fishing at night.  But if we don't get onto the water we will be eating franks and beans instead of perch fillets.

When Jesus called to Peter and Andrew He didn't say come catch some fish... No He said "I will send you out to fish for people."   He didn't promise them a harvest, just a calling.

We get so caught up in the fear of fishing for  men that we forget that God is in the boat with us.  The ultimate Guide is directing us and has our back.  Or we are so concerned about making sure that everything is perfect, that the house or the church is pretty or the " fish" won't bite.  We are so tied up that we don't do the fishing at all.

Paul Harvey said, "Too many Christians are no longer fishers of men but keepers of the aquarium."

Don't worry about the aquarium or if you have the right equipment.  Just remember, you have the right guide and He just wants us to fish.

Galatians 6:9
Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.

Don't grow weary, keep fishing
