Look At The Ant

Proverbs 6:6 "Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise!"

Yesterday I spend some time on my phone looking at the OnX hunting app, looking for some potential properties to get permission to hunt or to lease.  If I am able to get permission I begin studying the property on my maps, then as soon as I can get there, I begin walking the property to learn as much as possible about the land.

In later winter I can see all the deer sign from the past fall and establish stand locations for upcoming seasons.  If I am planning on turkey hunting the property I look for places to get in and out without the turkeys, as well as the deer, knowing that I am there.  This is one of the most important things to figure out in preparing for using new properties to hunt.

Proverbs 6:6-8 tells us: "Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest".

Like the daily life of the ant, preparation is the key to success in hunting and in our daily walk.  God has given us a way to prepare for tomorrow… it’s His word to us, the Bible.  Without the Bible how will we know what God wants for us and what we are called to do?  It’s like the online maps of apps like ONX.  If we don’t study to see how to be successful in life, we will struggle to succeed.

These verses use the ant as an example of foresight and diligent preparation. In life, we too should look ahead and plan. If we do, we will gather food at harvest time and we will know the plans that God has for us.
