NARROW IS THE GATE
Matthew 7:13-14
"Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. 14 For the gate is narrow and the way is constricted that leads to life, and there are few who find it.
There is a ranch in Southern Colorado that is one of the prettiest places on earth. 83,000 acres of God's beautiful creation. If you come in the north end gate you enter into broad valley with a gorgeous trout stream running through several hundred acre meadow. From there you can see the high mountain crest that is the top of the Sagre de Christo range above.
Once you enter onto the ranch the roads are free of gates except for one. On the far east end of that meadow there is one narrow stone gate where the road gets rough and steep. If you follow that road through the narrow gate you will eventually come to "Whiskey Pass".
"Whiskey Pass" is at the top of the mountain and is a place to go if you want to meet with God one on one. Now God will meet with us anyplace and anytime, but this place is special. The rimrock above is like a giant cathedral and when you stand or sit at the end of the road your eyes have no place to look but to heaven. Directly towards God.
There is no way to get to that place on the mountain without going through the "narrow gate" and on the rough road. This is so true of our lives. We can't get to where we meet face to face with God by staying on the easy road in life.
Are you traveling a rough road right now in life? Are you standing for God and things are tough? You are right where God wants you. He is shaping you into what He wants you to be, as a warrior for His Kingdom. Persevere, move forward with confidence knowing that by not being on the easy road, God has you by the hand. Those that travel the wide, easy road are traveling on their own, but you have the ultimate guide with you.
Find joy in the journey that finds you on a rough road. Through that narrow gate and at the end of that rough road is your eternal reward. Praise God.
