NOT AS IT SEEMS

2 Timothy 3:1-5
But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. 2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, slanderers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, 4 treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 holding to a form of godliness although they have denied its power; avoid such people as these.

It was a drizzly dark night in November of 1965 on the back roads and highways of northern  Illinois.  There was little traffic that night on the stretch of road and even fewer deer on the move in the area.  A unexpected motorist was struggling to see on the wet roads and a load thud and a sudden jolt shook the car.  At first the driver wasn't even sure what had happened.  When the vehicle came to a stop and the driver stopped out they saw something they had never seen before a giant bodied buck with an unbelievable set of antlers lay dead on the blacktop.

This buck had a much bigger frame than many had ever seen.  With a spread over 31" and long heavy points it was stunning.  I've had these antlers in my hands and I can tell you that the first glance is as big as anything that has ever grown.  But even as big as he is, his score falls short of what you could think.

Many of our lives are like the "Illinois Roadkill Buck".  People can look really impressive on the outside, but when the truth be known, they fall short... we fall short of the glory of God.  They appeared to be somewhat godly, but it's a facade, a false teacher.

We must remain away and separated from th3se people.  They are not followers of God, but agents of satan himself.

Things aren't always as they seem.  We must be on high alert in these times and they might look nearly perfect... but they aren't what they pretend to be.
