RESCUED FOR A REASON

Psalm 68:20
God is to us a God of deliverance; And to GOD the Lord belong escapes from death

"Yesterday, December 7, 1941—a date which will live in infamy—the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan."

Thus begins the speech by President Franklin Roosevelt to the Congress the day following the attack.

On December 7, 1941, at 7:55 A.M. on a cloudless Sunday, the Japanese hit Pearl Harbor. In two hours 2,403 Americans were dead, 1,178 were wounded, 169 U.S. aircraft were totally destroyed, three massive ships sunk and 18 others damaged.

While we hear the stories of the deaths of Pearl Harbor, there were many stories of miraculous salvation of those that were wounded and rescued.  Some brave soldiers took the weight of these rescues and became heroes.

Many of us have stories of times when our lives were saved by someone or something.  I have a few of my own.  We all come close to death at points in our life.  But God still has us here for a reason.

Could it be that we were saved from an early death to allow God to save us from eternal death? Is He waiting for you to come to Him today? What are you waiting for? You won't know when it's too late until you are separated from God for all eternity.  Or were you saved from passing away early to share with others the promise of eternal salvation?  If so, how are you doing with that?  Are you sharing a salvation message?

The last thing that Jesus told His disciples is found in Matthew 28:19-20, where Christians are told to...
"Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to follow all that I commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

Whatever the reason that each of us is still here, be sure that God has a plan for us.  Open your heart to His leading and discover His plan for your life.

You've been rescued from the jaws of death for a reason... Live it out.
