Remember The Wonders
Psalm 105:5: "Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced."
The other day as I looked at the old Stevens single shot .410 hanging on the wall, my mind traveled back in time. Many would just see a piece of wood and steel hanging there, while others might just an old gun, but I see memories of Jake my beagle busting a cottontail out of the brush pile. I see the late afternoon walks along the railroad tracks, hoping a ringneck pheasant will flush. I see the squirrel jumping from limb to limb. I see the start of a passion that has remained with me for over a half century. Things come and go, but my love for hunting has not.
Psalm 143:5 "I remember the days of long ago; I meditate on all your works and consider what your hands have done."
In Psalms chapter 143, King David took time to remember days from long ago. He thought about his past and how God had helped him and others. He remembered God's goodness and faithfulness instead of just focusing on his current troubles.
From time to time, it is good for us to stop and take a moment to remember the past, and as Christians, to stop and consider what God has done in our lives. When we pull back from the busyness of the day, we can see how the Lord has blessed us and think of His goodness to us.
Psalm 77:11-12: "I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. I will consider all your works and meditate on all your mighty deeds."
