STAYING CONNECTED IN LIFE'S STORMS

John 15:5
I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.

Karl Bohnak, who had been the meteorologist for many years on TV6 in Marquette, MI, shared a story 4 years ago of a little known Lake Superior shipwreck.  The wreck occurred 149 years ago with the loss of 2 schooners,  the Saturn and Jupiter.

In late November 1872.  The steamer John A. Dix towed the schooner barges Saturn and Jupiter out of Marquette the morning of November 27.  Later that same evening the three ships were overtaken just off Vermillion Point when huge waves blew up around them.  Both the Saturn and Jupiter broke free when the tow lines that connected them to the Dix were severed.  Neither ship made it to shore and all 14 men and women died in the disaster.

I'm not sure about you, but I have come against some storms in life that have threatened to sink me.  Things come crashing down so heavy that I don't think I can possibly stay afloat. If it weren't for the line that connects me to God Himself I would certainly be overtaken.

Don't ever forget that if you have the close personal relationship with Jesus Christ, God has you connected directly to Himself and you won't sink.  You have a need for the security that keeps you safe.  "for apart from Me you can do nothing."  (John 15:5b)

If you are facing a storm today and you don't have the security of that "tow line" connecting you to God, don't face the storm alone.  God's waiting for you to take the life line that He is holding out for you.

No storm is too great for God to overcome when we stay connected to Him.
