FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS

Esther 4:14
"For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father's house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?"

Throughout my guiding career and even now through my ministry career I've seen God work in some amazing ways to prepare me or put me in a place, at just the right moment to do a task.

I've had opportunities when at the last minute things have happened and I had to change plans for hunt... last minute.  And we adjusted quickly and had the best hunts and experiences.  Some of my closest friendships were formed on those hunts and I've lead others to a relationship with Jesus in those situations as well.

Just this morning we are out with a Purple Heart Veteran who planned to hunt with his crossbow this week.  He had prepared for weeks and then when it was time to go be couldn't find the crank for cocking the bow.  We quickly switched gears and got a rifle ready.  A last minute change may have saved the hunt.

One amazing friendship came when a hunter thought he made a great shot on a big bull elk.  The shot ended up being marginal and nonlethal.  The two of us sat for quite a while together.  God blessed us in amazing ways in His timing and His way.  It wasn't our plan, but His.

From earlier in the chapter of the scripture above we see that the king had given the order, the papers were signed and sent across the entire country. Every Jew throughout Persia was to be killed. Esther was the queen but she didn't know if there was anything she could do to make a difference. But the man that raised her, Mordecai (her older cousin), recognized that God has been preparing Esther in a special way to help with this very tough crisis for all of God's people. Esther had her doubts that the king would even listen to her but Mordecai told her, "Who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?"

Esther prayed for three days and asked others to do the same before she went to the king to stop the slaughter of God's people. Amazingly, her courageous and selfless actions changed the course of history and saved her people.

Often in our lives we are asked to do things that seem impossible or we have to change directions from where we were headed.  There are many reasons why we might feel inadequate, unworthy, or incapable of making a difference. We might want to be somewhere else, doing something completely different.

Today, God has called you "for such a time as this." It is no accident that you are where you are, doing exactly what you're doing. In special ways, the Lord has uniquely prepared you to accomplish certain tasks for His Kingdom. You also need to remember that God has an appointed time for every event in your life.

Do not doubt what God is doing or be discouraged or afraid. Trust God, and focus on His call for your life. He has called you for such a time as this, for this date with destiny.  There will come a day that you will look back and see His hand in something that will make a huge difference for His kingdom or His people.

Be faithful to Him, and He will bless you!
