Romans 10:9-10, 13
If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord,"and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
A few years back we hosted a bunch of kids from 8-14 years old at our camp. They were here for the Michigan youth deer season. Each of them was given this chance to hunt by another person or a company. Also, each of the kids was given a package of equipment from Vanguard Outdoors. Some received binoculars, rifle scopes, shooting sticks, hats, t-shirts, backpacks etc... It was like Christmas morning for the kids.
For a couple of these kids it may have been the best thing that ever happened to them. And for those of us who were serving these young men and young ladies it was very special to watch.
Two of these young people were there as the guests of Vanguard Outdoors. They were being treated to this adventure as an all expenses paid trip. What a great opportunity... One that most kids, that hunt, could only dream of.
This hunt, although Vanguard covered the cost, wasn't totally free. The two young people had to enter a contest and submit a video saying why they wanted to come and hunt Michigan... There was something that had to be done to get the prize.
God offers us an amazing gift in life and we have to do nothing more than believe. There is no price to pay, no contest to enter... Just a free gift with no strings attached. There are few things that are truly free, but this one is the best of all gifts, eternal life in heaven.
This life is short and goes by like the snap of the fingers. But eternity is forever. There is no growing old, no suffering from old age aches and pains. It never ends.
Most have heard the song of Amazing Grace. That great song builds up with a great message until the last verse that speaks of eternity....
"WHEN WE'VE BEEN THERE TEN THOUSAND YEARS, BRIGHT SHINING AS THE SUN, WEVE NO LESS DAYS TO SING GOD'S PRAISE, THAN WHEN WE'D FIRST BEGUN"
What a GIFT! Totally free, the only requirement is to accept it by believing that God sent Jesus to this earth to life and then die for each of us. Then in a miraculous way, Rose from the grave and still lives today. He did this all for you and for me. WOW!!
