TRUE SATISFACTION

John 4:13-14
Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life."

It finally feels like summer here in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.  Our evenings are warm and the leaves are completely filled out.  It's a long time coming most years, here in Michigan as winter doesn't generally want to relinquish it's hold on our area.

Everyone has something that truly marks the beginning of summer for them, and for Linda and myself, summer isn't summer without frosty mugs of root beer.  It's one of those things that marks the beginning and the end of the season, it's the spring and fall opening and closing of A&W.  A&W Root beer is something that I crave this time of the year.  Locally they still serve it here in a frosted heavy glass mug which creates a slush on the top of the sweet soda.  No cans, no bottles and no cups.... A frosted heavy solid glass, old fashioned mug... right from the freezer.

Each time I drink a A&W it is so satisfying... at least for a little while.  Shortly after drinking it I don't feel so good (a little bloated) and then I need some water to drink.  The root beer really doesn't quench the thirst, but it tastes so good.  I'm satisfied by that one mug...  but within a little while I crave it all over again.

John wrote about Jesus's meeting of the woman at the well and how with Him she would never thirst again. You would think that we would learn that the things of this world will never totally satisfy and only Christ will be eternally fulfilling.  We can search our entire life for something that truly satisfies our heart and soul.... But nothing short of a relationship with our loving God will satisfy.

What is it here that you desire?  What is it you feel you can't live without?  Think about it for a little while and realize that, if it is of this world, a short time after getting it, it won't be satisfying.  Only God can truly satisfy us.  We've all wished for something for a long time... a new car, a new house, a new relationship or countless other things.... Only to get them and we start longing all over again.

God promises to always satisfy us.  Just like the Israelites in the desert, when God supplied manna every morning and quail every night.  God will never let us down.

The Apostle Paul confirmed that those that know Christ will be satisfied...
Philippians 4:19
19 And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.

Trust Christ for your continual satisfaction.  There's no need to look anywhere else, we will always be disappointed with anything less than Him.
