TURN DOWN THE VOLUME

1 Kings 19:11-13
The Lord said, "Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by."
Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. 12 After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. 13 When Elijah heard it, he pulled his cloak over his face and went out and stood at the mouth of the cave.
Then a voice said to him, "What are you doing here, Elijah?"

The big buck put his head down to feed and my young hunter had his gun at the ready and he appeared to be waiting for me to give him the ok.  I whispered, "take him", but nothing happened.  I said it again... nothing.  I looked back over at him and he was staring through his scope, but he had his earmuffs on and evidently couldn't hear me.  I tapped him on his shoulder and mounted, "shoot him".  He looked back at the buck, just as He was walking off the field.  We had missed the opportunity.

God attempts to speak to all of His children, all of the time.  But we are like a television set...  the stations broadcast 24/7, but you can only receive the message if you turn the set on, quiet down and listen.  Sure God could make a loud announcement, but more likely He is going to be that still small whisper that we only hear If we are still and listening for it.

Most of us have way too much going on in our lives, too much static and noise.  If we don't allow God to remove that we will never truly hear Him.

Today I read a small post on Facebook that said, "Rest is a weapon given to us by God.  The enemy hates it because he wants us stressed and preoccupied."  God wants us ready for battle all the time.  If we are drained and worn down, we don't have all we need for battle.  It doesn't matter if it's work, play or ministry that is wearing us out, we need to protect ourselves and stay rested and ready.

Don't allow the enemy, satan, to win out.  Slow down, clear your head, find a quiet place where you can learn to hear God's voice clearly.  He's always there, broadcasting out to you.  You just have to turn down the volume of this world and allow God's volume to come up.

Allow yourself to hear the spirit when He speaks.
