Why would we fear?

Psalm 27:1
The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?

I couldn't have been much more than12 years old and my brother was likely about 10.  We were invited to spend a night on a trout stream with a young man from church.  The next morning we were walking down a road when the man that brought us along on the outing jumped off the road and disappeared in the brush.  My little brother panicked and began crying.  We were both afraid and weren't sure what we would do to find our way home.  I remained calm, but my brother was terribly distraught.  After about 10 minutes our host came back out of the brush and explained that he was just seeing how we would respond to the frightening experience

The scripture, above, is filled with great thoughts, assurances and promises

"The Lord is my light", in this world of darkness He is a light to show us a clear path.  He makes things clear for us not to stumble or fall on our day to day travel through life.

"He is my salvation".  That is He is my rescuer... David was under constant fear of being killed for much of his life.  Yet, he writes, "He is my salvation. Whom shall I fear".  It's easy to read, hard to live out.  We are amazingly blessed to have a heavenly father that cares about us enough that we really have no cause to fear.  No one can lay a hand on us if we are His child, unless He allows it.

Our "LORD is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?"

God truly is our strength and without him we can't live, he holds us up to withstand all that the world comes at us with.  So, if we know that he is our strength, our light and our salvation... Then how would we ever be afraid?

As you go through your day remember this assurance and remember that David was under attack most of his life but... Because he loved the Lord and trust totally in him... He was not only preserved... He was blessed beyond imagination.
