A Way Of Escape
1 Corinthians 10:13
"God is faithful, and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation He will provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it".
Some years back, two guys drove up from Kentucky to buy a hound pup from a friend of mine. While they were here, the two bought a small game license so they could do a little squirrel and pheasant hunting. We went right out my back door and started walking a 13 acre piece of switchgrass that usually had pheasants in it. I honestly don't recall if we saw a pheasant, but I do remember how as we walked the field at only about 30 yards apart, Junior spotted a big dead buck and it was right in front of him. As he walked up on the big racked animal, it exploded to its feet, and we all just stared with our mouths open as that monster buck disappeared into the nearby timber.
Sometimes I wonder just how many animals I've walked by because I was looking somewhere else or simply not paying attention. From birth, these animals live and die by knowing when to move and when to stay still. They usually know where you are long before you know where they are, and they always seem to have a great escape route.
As we go through life, sometimes we will find ourselves in dicey situations. No one is given a pass when it comes to temptation, but what we are given as Christians is a way of escape. Corinthians 10:13 says "God is faithful, and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation He will provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it".
Know that God always has an escape route for you. Like, Joseph in Podiphar's home with Podiphar's wife, we may be tempted... but God has made a way for us to get away.
Today's prayer: "Lord, you know my weaknesses and you know that I can't deal with daily temptations without you. Lord, I need Your strength to resist them as they cross my path. Help me to seek your strength and not try to handle things on my own. Thank you for your promise of providing a way of escape. Amen.
Thank you Joel for assisting me today.
