Getting out of the storms

Jonah 1:15-16
So they picked up Jonah and hurled him into the sea, and the sea stopped its raging. 16 Then the men became extremely afraid of the LORD, and they offered a sacrifice to the LORD and made vows.

It was late in the evening and shooting light was long past.  We had several deer down and the snow was so deep we couldn't drive in to get them.  I was tired and frustrated.  One of the hunters had driven off the road and into the ditch.  I had to get a tow strap attached to both trucks.

As I attempted to pull the other truck out, but the icy road was too slick and I was pulled back into the ditch with him. The snow storm that came on us that week caused all kinds of havoc on our life.

So what is it that causes this much distress and pain?  Is it satan?  Possibly, but generally not.  It is usually our own sin, or possibly the sin of others around us.

Sometimes it could be, like Jonah, a lack of willingness to confess our sins.  The sailors told him to make things right with God, yet he would rather die in the seas than confess.

What storms are you facing right now?  What are the causes of the storm that threatens to bring you down?  Is there sin in your life?  Are those that you are "in the boat" with living a sinful life and you are enjoying being with them?  Move away from those living a purposefully sinful life.

If it's your sin... confess.
