ARE YOU LIVING IN THE LIGHT?
2 Samuel 22:29
You are my lamp, O LORD; the LORD turns my darkness into light.
In the Missouri River breaks Linda would deer hunt each fall. It was such a blessing to sit together and stare up at the stars before the fear light would break the eastern horizon. Most every morning we would see several shooting stars. It was one of my favorite things to do each year. As the sun rises each morning when I'm outdoorsI think about how God illuminates the darkness in the world.
I have pretty good navigational skills and see pretty well in the darkness... But things become much clearer and easier in the light of day than they do in the dark. Why do we choose to live in the darkness when we can see clearly in the light?
God has given us His Son that became the light of the world. Our job is first to except that Light, next to quit living in the darkness and then we are called to share that light to those that are still living in the darkness of this world.
With our travels around North America, Linda and I have visited, guided and operated lodges in some places that are extremely "dark". They are shaded by the cloak of satan... It doesn't take much to illuminate a place like that... Showing the love that Christ gives is a great start and the shadows recede like the darkness before a bright sunrise. Within a short time people have seen that we are different than the darkness they are living in.
Matthew 5:14-16
"You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Do you know, "the light"? Is your life shining into the darkness of this world? Don't hide it, by living in darkness yourself... clear out any shadows in your life... and let Christ's light shine through you.
A couple years ago, our grandson, Micah, sent us a photo of the Teton Mountains. What showed through to me was the what was black and without any beauty just minutes earlier, showed amazing beauty... that what we should be as a child of God.
