Be Anxious About Nothing...
Philippians 4:6-7
do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
We landed on the small lake, headed up the mountain for blacktail deer. It was mid-afternoon and my hunting partner and I headed in one direction, while the pilot and his partner headed around the backside of the mountain. We had 4 hours to be back in the air so we could make it back to the dock before it was too land safely.
It didn't take long and I had stocked up on a great buck and harvested him. In an hour or so, we had photos taken and had him skinned, quartered and back in the floatplane.
With 2 hours of daylight the two of us sat in the plane and watched the mountain for our other two hunters. We also watched for Kodiak Brown Bears, which we had seen several that day. As the sun slipped behind the mountain we began to worry that we might spend the night in the plane with nothing but a thin piece of aluminum between us and hungry Grizzlies.
Eventually with no time to spare, the pilot finally arrived and ran to the plane. We rushed to get off the lake, racing the oncoming darkness, which made it impossible to land on water. The once in the air we worried about crashing in the dark.
What should have been an exciting day , turned into a day or anxiety and worry. But scripture says, "do not be anxious about anything"
Whew... This can be tough. Anxious about nothing? That is far easier said than done. But deep down inside we know that we are able to give all of our load to our Lord and He is more than capable to handle it.
Matthew 6:31-33 explains it very well...
So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
King David is the Psalms prayed prayers of supplication all the time when in distress. Daniel, when in trouble with the king, prayed this way.
So, "which one of us can add a day to our lives by worrying?". Actually now we all know that we lose days because of stress, anxiety and worry.
Give it all over to Him... "And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
