Beauty On The Inside

Proverbs 31:30
"Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised"

I remember as a kid, walking in the river near our hunting camp. I found clams that were half buried in the mud, their rough brown ugly shells certainly didn't look appetizing, but we dug them out, cleaned them and fried them up on shore.  We ate them, because that's what little boys do.  After we eaten them we sat and marveled at the beauty of the inside of the clam shells.  They were beautiful.

Matt Macpherson, of McPherson Guitars a s Mathews Archery told me of a pocket watch his mother gave him as a boy.  One time, he figured out how to open it and when he did, he was amazed at the inner beauty of the workings of that watch.

Years later, after designing and producing one of the best sounding guitars in the world, Matt wanted to replicate that feeling of opening that pocket watch.  If you were to pick up a McPherson Guitar and put a mirror down into the hole you would see a mother-of-pearl inlay with the McPherson name.  Normally you would never know it, but the builder knows it and he appreciates the beauty of his creation.

Matt wanted to replicate, not only the pocket watch, but God's  creation of His children.  As His child God looks down on us and He wants to see an inner beauty in us.  Some of his children have an outer beauty just looking at them.  For many of us our inner beauty, because of God, makes us beautiful inside and out.

God's handiwork shows through when we have the closest possible relationship ship with Him.  He illuminates our entire being.  Like the pocket watch or the guitar,  the builders hand creates the beauty in us.

Some would say that the beauty of your character is your greatest asset. No matter what people say about you or do to you, your character says the most about who you are and shines your true beauty . The decisions you make when no one is watching determines the depth and nature of your character.

The more true and genuine you are in your walk with Christ and in your relationships with others, the more God will be able to use you to encourage and lift others.

In 1 Peter 3:3-4, Peter reminds wives of the importance of letting their inner beauty shine brightly. He writes:
Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, . . . Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight. (1 Peter 3:3-4)
