Giving and Taking

1 John 4:8
Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

The hunt was over and now it was time to gather for praise and worship.  At Two Hats Ranch we had come together, through Quest Ministries, to give our time and efforts to some young people that had some special challenges in life.

During the praise and worship time, Jessi shared that she had learned that on these special hunts there was a combination of serving and being served.  By caring for others here, we are pouring into families and at the same time, God is filling us with joy and fulfillment.  There are few places that this happens, but the one place we will experience this is when we one day reach heaven.  It is the best kind of give and take.

How often we look at love by focusing on what we can get from it...  But if our only view of love is based on what we can get from others, it will fail us every single time.

Romans 5:6-8 says...
"You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

What a great thought...  We were considered "worthless" BUT, God loved us so much that he gave his only son to give us salvation. (John 3:16).  That is true love, to give your son to die for someone else.

So using this example, choose to remember that love isn't what we have the opportunity to get from this world. Love is what we have the opportunity to give.

Start each day deciding to give love someone in Christ's name.
