YOU’VE BEEN CHOSEN
Psalm 139:13-16
For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. 14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.
I’ve been in hunting camps where the camp manager just appointed hunters to certain stands. That system works well, but sometimes it’s like being picked for a team in grade school. Then I’ve been in camps where you drew for stand locations. Either way, you always wondered if you got a good spot or not. Over the years, I taken the last stand that was left after everyone else had their stands selected. I sometimes felt left down, but some of those years, I was pleasantly surprised by my selection.
All football eyes were on this weekend... DRAFT DAY had finally arrived. Some hopes and dreams were met and some were crushed this week. What history will usually forget about in sports is what's left off the box score and the highlight reel. Everything that can't be simply broken down and explained in news print. Forgettable things like what happened in the NFL Draft in 2025.
Many of the cameras were on him as the first round selections were announced, one after another. Many of the crowd questioned what was happening, as a different name was read over and over again. And then over several hours, name after name was read. Names of players we had never heard before and some we haven't heard of since. Players that may never make an impact in the world of football.
This year the first round came and went and one player, Shedeur Sander, name was not announced. So far it’s been the biggest disappointment in the 2025 NFL Draft. Shedeur Sanders, the Colorado quarterback, who was not selected in the first round, was a highly touted prospect with a Hall of Fame father, was projected to go much earlier, but thing don’t always go as we plan.
How many of us have gone through life thinking that we should be used in one way to become a success, but God has other plans for us? We believe that we are supposed to do this and God says "do that"? God has a plan far above our plan in life. He knows the beginning from the end. We might not be the biggest or strongest. We might not be first round pick material, but God has a place for you that fits right into His plan, a needed player on His team. We need to trust in that and keep moving forward as He leads.
On "Draft Day" way back in the book of 1st Samuel, Samuel went to the house of Jesse to anoint the next king of Israel. Every time Jesse brought a son out (10 in all) God told Samuel, "not him"... Finally they had gotten to the last son, David, the youngest and smallest, but God said, "he's the one". David was to be the next king... God had a plan. You might not see it. You might be the smallest or consider yourself under qualified, but God has a plan for you and your life.
Jeremiah 29:11 tells us... “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
You've already been selected, trust God and get in the game and give it your best.
