Live out your dreams... to God's glory

Genesis 37:19-21
They said to one another, "Here comes this dreamer! 20 Now then, come and let's kill him, and throw him into one of the pits; and we will say, 'A vicious animal devoured him.' Then we will see what will become of his dreams!"

I, like many young boys from my area, was born with a dream to hunt and fish every chance I could and to travel around North America doing just that.  As I began to grow up, I decided that I wanted to be a missionary.  To travel places and share the Good News of Jesus Christ and what He did for me and for them.

God places dreams in all of His children.  Some are strong and more vivid in our minds and some you have to look deeper to find.  Joseph, in the scripture above had a very vivid dream of what God was going to do in his life.

After many years of traveling around North America,  hunting,  fishing and guiding, I began sharing Gospel messages as I spoke to groups.  Then God opened the doors to care for pastors and others in the beautiful mountains of Colorado.  Then, two and a half years ago,  when God's Great Outdoors called me to lead this ministry, I let my mother know that when she listened to The Trail To Adventure on Jan, 1 of 2023, it would be my voice on the radio, not Gerry Caillouett.  Her response to me was, "Dean, from the day you were born God has prepared you for this very thing'.  That was all the confirmation I needed.

On a recent interview with Matt McPherson of Mathews Archery and McPherson Guitars, Matt said, "There are dreamers in the world, almost everyone has a dream, but there are very few dream doers."

Matt is a dream doer.  God gave him a dream to do ministry and then he fulfilled that dream by making him successful in business.  It happens to be his businesses, as mine were, are part of his passion as well.

In Jeremiah 29:11, God let's us know that there is a plan for you and for me.  And in that plan is a dream that is individual to all of His children.   That verse says,
"For I know the plans that I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans for prosperity and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." (Jeremiah 29:11)

God has placed, in you, a dream, a plan for you to live out your life fulfilling His dreams for you.  Can you recall the earliest dreams God placed in your heart?  Have you even attempted to go after that dream?  What has held you back?

In Proverbs 29:18 it says;
"Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keeps the law, happy is he."
What is your vision beyond getting up and going to work each day?  Are you attacking your dream?  Your goal in your dreams must include bring glory to God.  Any other reason in fulfilling your dreams is futile.

The dreams that God had instilled in you come with a promise.   Psalm 37:4, makes it clear;
"Delight yourself in the Lord: and he will give you the desires of your heart."

Do you want to be known as just a "dreamer" or do you want to be known as a "dream doer"?  It's your choice.  Live out your dreams... to God's glory.
