MORE LIKE HIM
Philippians 2:12
Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
It was a long night, last night. We had two hunters shoot deer and we successfully tracked late into the night. Both trails were rough and took a long time. Often going off a pin drop of blood on a pine needle or on a piece of grass. There were times we could see a partial track in the soil. We worked out both trails meticulously and in the end both were successful.
This is a good example of our salvation, once we've come to Christ. We continually work out our path, over and over again. We don't do it to win or earn our salvation, but it's a growing or sanctifying process.
It like fishing for years to catch a trophy trout or bass, or hunting a trophy buck. We don't catch or harvest it, then throw it on the river bank and walk away, letting it rot. No, we take care of it... putting it to use. We prepare it for its future us, whether that be for a mount and or for meals. We continue to process to fulfill its purpose.
We come to Christ once... then we continually grow in our relationship with Him. We put to use what He has given us and become more like Jesus all the time. If we don't do this, then our Christian walk is like the trophy buck that is left to spoil on the ground.
So, I challenge you, and I challenge myself to continue to grow in our life to be more like the example Jesus set for us.
