PAY ATTENTION, HE'S GOT BIGGER PLANS

PROVERBS 2:1-5
My son, if you will receive my words
And treasure my commandments within you,
2 Make your ear attentive to wisdom;
Incline your heart to understanding.
3 For if you cry out for insight, and raise your voice for understanding;
4 If you seek her as silver and search for her as for hidden treasures; 5 Then you will understand the fear of the LORD,
And discover the knowledge of God.

Tom was looking through the scope, he was ready to pull the trigger on a big doe.  He was out that day to fill his freezer and was happy that the doe was offering up the opportunity to feed his family.  As he was squeezing the trigger he was attentive enough to catch movement out of the corner of his eye. As he let off the trigger he look over to the left and there stood the biggest buck he had ever seen.  In that moment Tom went from being a meat hunter, to being a trophy buck hunter.

In the years that I guided and hunted big bucks in western South Dakota, there were many times that our hunters, or myself, experienced something that was disappointing at times and even heartbreaking.  Hunters would see a good bucks coming and watch it closely through the scope and eventually pull the trigger, harvesting a nice buck.  Then when the gun was lowered, standing right close would be a much better buck.

There's an old saying that goes, "good is the enemy of great".  This can be true in our spiritual walk.  We're often willing to settle for doing just enough.  We pray once in a while, our Bible reading is occasional or we'll talk about the things of God, when we have Christian friends with us, and no one else is in earshot.  Reading the scriptures, praying, and sharing the good things that God is doing in your life are all good, but just to do it sparingly is  not OK.  Making these things a lifestyle, where we continually are in His word and praying and sharing how great God is, is when they become life altering.

What is it that you are doing that is keeping you from seeing the best part of God's work?  What is stopping you from experiencing the best of what God has for you?

Keep your eyes on what God has for you day to day, be willing to call on Him to stretch you into something far greater than what you're used to living.  He's got much bigger plans for us than what most are willing to look for.

Step up and look for the greatest in God's plan for you..   He's got so much more for you.
