PINPOINT FOCUS

Hebrews 12:2-3
Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

The bull was in a crease between the evergreens across the valley.  He was facing straight away from me with his head down and all I could see was the tops of his antlers.  I was hunting in an area where a bull had to have 4 points on at least one antler to be legal, but I couldn't  count points from my angle.

The temps that morning were far below freezing that morning and after staring through my scope for several minutes, waiting for the bull to lift his head or turn broadside, the scope began to frost over.  I took my eye away from the scope long enough to scratch the frost off the lense and I looked up again and noticed the bull was now broadside and I could clearly see 5 points on one antler. That was all I needed, the crosshairs went to his chest and I pulled the trigger.

It amazes me that when you shoot at the range the recoil of a big gun feels like you were hit in the shoulder with a sledge hammer and the sound can be heard 2 miles away.  When you have your head down on the stock of the gun and are totally concentrating on the trophy you are hunting there is no kick and sometimes you don't even hear the gun go off.

This should be the way we walk with the Lord.  We should be able to completely focus on what He has in mind for us, removing all of the worldly distractions.  If we truly want to live a life that is pleasing to Him and have Him at the forefront of our lives, we must focus on His word.

My shot was true and the big bull went down within seconds.  I had to concentrate hard as there were trees between the bull and my gun.  By completely focusing on the bear and not worrying about all that was in my way was I was able to do exactly what I had set out to do.  This is exactly what God's word is saying the verse above.

What fills our mind controls our lives.  We must not focus on our obstacles we instead must  keep our focus on God's plans and v possibilities for our lives.

Our hearts need to have pinpoint focus and we must remain in this frame of mind to have the relationship that our Lord wants for us.

Jeremiah 29:13 "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."

A prayer for today:
Heavenly Father, I pray that today and every day in the future my focus is on you alone.  Help me to block out all of the other distractions of this world, keeping my heart with pinpoint concentration on what you have set before me.  Lord I accept your promise that if I keep my eyes and heart centered on you, you will keep me going and not grow weary.  May your name be glorified in all that I do today.  Amen
