REAL FAMILY

Ephesians 3:14-16
For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, 16 that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being,

Just coming off a hunting and fishing expo in Texas... we had a great time seeing old friends and making new friends.  There were a couple of great old friends in a both next to us... they've become family.  They are the founders of the Quest Ministry team that we are part of.  For 25+ years there are friends that come together from around the country to spend a week together serving special needs youth and purple heart recipients and their families.  Hunting camps like this are some of the best places to build strong group relationships/families.

Each year we gather and its like a great family reunion.  This year will be different as 4 of our family have passed away.  It has been a hard year, but we know that one day soon we will gather again... not to serve others, but to praise and honor God.

Funny how people that see each other one or two times a year become family without trying... it all because of love.  When we love others like we are called to, they will become family.

In today's world the traditional family structure is quickly melting away.  What used to be the "norm" is now somewhat rare.  As we work harder to love others, as we should...  we build a family that is what it should be.

Richard Bach said it in a great way,
"The bond that links your true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other's life. Rarely do members of one family grow up under the same roof."

I know families living under the same roof that have never been close and I am part of families that only see each other once a year, but meet each other's needs on a continual basis.  That's true family.

So if love is what makes a strong family, then we know that the strongest family is a Christian family...  If you are a Christian, you need never ask, "Who is my family?" You'll know!
