Prepared for attack
Ephesians 3:10-16
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
The Apostle Paul does not write "IF the day of evil comes" but "WHEN the day to evil comes.". We WILL be attacked, be sure of that. It may come as a small voice of doubt or as a full out physical attack. These verses give us ways to be prepared.
Verse 16 says to "take up the shield of faith". If we continue to hold Tight to this shield of faith it will help us to deflect the lies that satan shoots at us.
My friend David hunted south Dakota with me several times. One year I had a special stand set up for him and I had set reflectors in for him over a half mile of rolling hills to help him find the stand. I had explain that when the trail went into a deep wash and came back out, if he looked to his right he would see the last reflective tack right at the ladder stand.
Later in the morning, when he got back to camp he told me that he had gotten through the deep wash and when he came out he saw another reflector ahead so he kept going. When he got to the reflector he saw two more further up the valley so he kept going. Soon he could find another reflector and he was lost in the dark. David waited until daylight and eventually found his way back down to the stand.
By that time David had blown every deer out of the valley. What he eventually figured out was that the reflectors that he was following was actually the reflection from the eyes of the deer in the valley.
Satan will use deception such as this to deceive and to divide families, ministries, friendships. He will lead us to a place that we don't want to go. He will attempt to destroy ANYTHING that is glorifying God. Do not fall for his lies of doubt and fear. Do not allow satan to convince you that your worth is anything less than a child of the King.
Remember Philippians 4:13, I can do all things through Christ who strengths me.
We can only do, "all thing" when we are doing them with God and for His glory. But when we are doing , "all things" that way... God can not be stopped.
Hold tight to the "shield of faith" today... You will come under fire, satan will attempt to lead you astray... stay the course.
