REAL LIFE
John 10:10
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came so that they would have life, and have it abundantly.
It was just about dark when John saw a buck approaching his stand. At first he thought it was a big buck with his head down trying to breed a doe, but the closer the buck got to his stand the clearer the situation became. What John was seeing was one live buck locked antlers with a dead buck. It would have been legal for him to harvest the live buck, but John had pitty on him and chose to do his best to separate the bucks and allow the one to live.
It was dark when John got out of his stand and he felt it was too dangerous to approach the bucks alone in the dark. The next morning he gathered some friends and they went back to try to find the locked bucks. They soon found them and with the help of a lariat and a tarp the were able to subdue the live buck. Then with the use of a battery powered saw, they were able to cut an antler from the dead buck and set the other buck free.
If it hadn't been for John and his friends, both of those buck would have died there in the woods. The one buck owes his life to those guys.
The word life in the verse above, is the word zoe in the Greek language. This word zoe is the very life of God, active and real within believers, obtained by belief in Jesus as our Lord and Savior. This is not the life you need to wait on for your future eternal life in heaven, but for now. Right now! God wants to give you ZOE life right now. Zoe life is full, abundant, active, purposeful, and eternal.
God wants you to have this life right now because HE wants you to be his imagery. He wants you to look different, so others see that something is different in you and they want it. This will open the door to have relationships with them, spreading the Word. But we can only have this zoe life if we have a relationship with Jesus first. Not just reading a devotion or a few verses to get thru a plan but truly looking at Jesus and spending time with Him.
Like that one live buck that was bound to death and then set free, we have true life when we give our lives to Christ, then live in true freedom.
