RESCUED

Roman's 8:1
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus

A call came in from the owner of the ranch asking us to check a fence crossing along a pasture edge.  He had seen an elk calf at the fence and it appeared stuck.  Rob and I headed down eight away with since tools and when we arrived we did in fact find an elk calf with it's leg wrapped in barbed wire.  We worked for about a ½ hour cutting the poor little calf's left out and repairing the fence.  It was a great experience and certainly has a biblical  application.

RESCUED is the word Paul uses when he describes the human struggle with sin: "What a wretched man I am, who will rescue me from this body of death?" Romans 7:24

Jesus came for one reason, to rescue men and women from a horrible fate...  to die without a relationship with God.  Like that elk calf, we are all entangled in a hopeless situation, bound by sin.

It is through the grace of God that we have been rescued and cut free from the bonds of sin in our life.  With Jesus, there is no hope of rescue.  God's grace is the "wire cutters" that remove the wires that tie us to the sins that bind us.

The children of Israel continually  found themselves in a position of bondage... not the physical bondage of Egypt and others, but the bondage of sin.  God would cut the snares that held them and they would over and over again find themselves ensnared.

A rescue is something that only somebody else can do for you. If you're trapped in a fire, or you have a medical emergency, who would you call... 9-1-1 because you need someone else to do for you what you cannot do for yourself.

Calling 9-1-1 can't save you. It is the fireman, the policeman for the paramedic who saves you. Calling 9-1-1 puts you in touch with the one who can save you. The one who answers your call is the one who saves you. That's important. The Bible says In Acts 16:31, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved". "Saved" is another way of saying rescued.

Many people may have the idea that believing is something we do to save ourselves. But if you are able to save yourself then, by definition, you do not need to be rescued. Believing is making the call to 9-1-1. It is the way that you call on the Lord Jesus Christ. And it is Christ who saves you.

Are you in need of rescue today?  Are your sins wrapping you up in an eternal snare.  Call out to Jesus... the only one that can cut what is binding you to your sinful past and present and save/rescue you.
