SOMETHING NEW HAPPY NEW YEAR
Isaiah 43:18-19
"Do not call to mind the former things, or consider things of the past.
19 Behold, I am going to do something new, now it will spring up; will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness,
Rivers in the desert."
We stood in the driveway staring at the old farmhouse we had just bought, not sure if we had made the right decision. It didn't look like much. Parts of the outside were missing siding, what parts still were covered were a mixture of 3 different types of styles. It was an ugly mess. Inside wasn't quite as nice as the outside. A big oil stove sat in the middle of the place and the floor was saturated with leaked oil. The stairs that lead to the scary second floor were worn through and resembled something from a 1970s horror movie.
But my dad could see something different... he could see a beauty in that old house, despite it'smany flaws. Linda, dad and I worked for weeks, that turned into months, and eventually the place took shape. It seemed like it would never happen, but one day it finally came together... there stood the house/hunting camp in all her beauty. What was once broken and neglected, ready for the bulldozer, with an uncertain future, was now a story of hard work, vision and faith. Transformed from the inside out. A true new beginning.
As we looked around the camp, we felt a deep sense of fulfillment. What was started as a questionable project: now stood as a symbol of hope, renewal, and the incredible things that can happen when we see beyond the disastrous mess and trust in the future God has prepared.
Like when my dad saw a future beauty and wonder, God sees what can be in our lives. Like dad saw something useful; God sees something in you that can become a mighty tool for His glory. He sees all that you can become and is excited for you.
If you long for a fresh start, a new beginning, you don't have to let fear and doubt hold you back. Invite God to begin His tremendous work in your life. Roll up your sleeves and get to work, however He calls you.
No matter where your life is right now or what you've experienced, God sees all your potential. He is the Visionary who will give you a brand-new beginning.
Ephesians 2:10
For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which He prepared in advance for us to do.
Look for what potential God sees in you, then put the effort in to rebuild your life into what He sees.
Today is the beginning of a new year, it's the perfect time to set out on a new path, a New Beginning.
