WAITING PATIENTLY

Galatians 6:9
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up

A friend of mine hunted with me for over 20 years and because of health reasons couldn't get here last year.  He found a small piece of public property near his home and hunted there.  He hunted from daylight until dark, day after day without seeing a single deer.  Then after several day of seeing no deer, a single deer appeared and he took a big non-typical buck? The biggest in his 60 plus years of hunting.

He could have given up and gone home after 2 or 3 unsuccessful hunting, but held on and was rewarded for his patience.

God made a promise to Abraham that he would be the father of many nations.  At the time he and Sarah were very old.  After waiting a long time, they had a son... When Abraham was 100 years old.

Joseph was sold into slavery as a boy and ended up being thrown into prison for a long time.  But Joseph never gave up hope and God raised him up into a great leader of both Egypt and God's people.

Job lost everything in his life and waited on God and God provided even more for Job than he had had before.

Whatever the task is that God has called us to, we need to continue doing the work even if we don't see the progress we would like to see. Even Jesus was teaching His disciples until the moment of His death. Jesus is an example of patience for us.

Patience is not just waiting for something, its about how we wait, its about our attitude while waiting.  Trusting God that He will perfect in us His plans, no matter how long it takes... This is patience.
