Your Mountain Top
Mark 9:2-3
Six days later, Jesus took with Him Peter and James and John, and *brought them up on a high mountain by themselves. And He was transfigured before them; 3 and His garments became radiant and exceedingly white, as no launderer on earth can whiten them.
I love the high places of the world. Mountain tops are places that we are literally and figuratively closer to God. Spending time looking out over His amazing creation is a great way to lift my spirit. I cannot sit up high on the mountain without feeling the presence of my Savior. And going there with another person or small group raises conversations that we normally couldn't or wouldn't have.
There is a place overlooking the Culebra River valley in Southern Colorado. It was a small rock outcropping that had several comfortable grassy spots to sit and enjoyed the view of many miles of beautiful golden aspens in the fall.
Many days in the fall we would climb out onto the rocks and share the thoughts on the majesty of our God. These are times and images I will never forget.
God graciously gives us these experiences so we are able to navigate the many valleys in our lives, not so we can stay on the mountain. So, I cherish these mountain top experiences, and draw from them in the valleys.
Maybe you can't get to the mountains. But we all need somewhere to have these experiences in life. Places where it is just you and God. Or a place to build a relationship stronger between you and others that are working together towards a common goal.
God has given us all a "mountain" where we can meet Him face to face. This place is there to rebuild our heart and soul by allowing God to reach out and touch us.
Go to the mountains if you can, or just go to God and ask Him where your mountain top is. He will meet you there.
