A NEW LIFE THROUGH THE BLOOD

2 Corinthians 5:17
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!"

Joel told me a story of something that happened about thirty years ago, he raised and sold Elkhound pups. His breeding stock was all good squirrel and coon dogs. Most of the time they had one or two males and three or four females in their kennels. Typically each of the females would have one litter per year and usually a litter would consist of five to ten puppies.

He remembered a naughty female named Solveig. She was always escaping or getting into trouble. At one time she had a litter of seven pups and every day when Joel would clean the kennel, he'd let her out to run and get away from the pups for a few minutes. When her pups were about six weeks old, Solveig started to act sick and lethargic. At one point she could hardly stand on her own, so he took her to the local veterinarian.

Upon examination the vet informed Joel that Solveig had been poisoned. It was then he remembered that in the shed was a canister of rat poison containing warfarin, an anticoagulant. Solveig was stealing this bait and slowly internal bleeding to death. After telling the vet of this, he asked Joel to bring his largest dog. He had a big male elkhound named Elg (moose) that weighed about fifty pounds. Oh... and he also had a big eighty pound chocolate lab named Jasper. The doc said "Bring Jasper."

Within an hour the blood was being drained from Jasper's leg and being injected into Solveig's weak and tired body. In just minutes her eyes widened, her ears perked up, and her tail began to wag. It was a miracle!

The next day Joel visited the vet's office, picked Solveig up, and took her home. She was full of new life and more mischief. And yes, he secured the lid on the container of rat poison.

Scripture describes new life in Christ as a radical transformation where believers become "new creations," leaving the old life behind for a fresh start, empowered by the Holy Spirit for good works, eternal hope, and abundant life.

It's by the blood of Christ, we can all have a new life. In Ephesians 2:10 we read that "We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works."
Then in Colossians 1:27 it says, "to whom God willed to make known what the wealth of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles is, the mystery that is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

It's only through the Blood of Christ that we can be brought to a life anew.  The blood of our savior has paid the price for our salvation.

In John 10:10 Jesus said, "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."

2 Corinthians 5:17 says, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!"
