Become An Overcomer

Romans 8:35 & 37
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? ....No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

It had been a great evening.  My friend Don had shot the biggest buck of his life and now we were heading in to pick it up, before heading back to camp where we had fiends coming for dinner.  As we began driving back into the area to get Don's buck, the skies opened up and an unbelievable amount of rain poured out.

We got most of the way in a we started up a little rise in the woods.  The dirt of the road had turned into a very thin slurry of mud and we couldn't get up the small hill.  I backed up and tried over a d over again... to no avail.  Now we had dug a hole at the bottom of the rise as well and now after 15 minutes of trying, we were stuck.

Finally we thought, "maybe we should pray about this", so we did.  Then, just before we called for someone to come and pull us out, we have it one  ore try... the hill that seemed 100% impassable suddenly allowed us to climb right out.  With God's help, we had overcome.

As we face struggles in life, the two most important things we can learn is personal responsibility and more importantly, calling on God for His help.  Bad things happen, its your job to over come them, with the help of our heavenly Father.

Mandesa's song "Overcomer" says it well...

You're an overcomer
Stay in the fight 'til the final round
You're not going under
'Cause God is holding you right now
You might be down for a moment
Feeling like it's hopeless
That's when He reminds You
That you're an overcomer
You're an overcomer

We all have "bad" things happen in our lives.  We will face things every day.  We can sit still and feel sorry for ourselves, OR, we can look for solutions and answers to these situations and pray over the issue.

Most bad situations only get worse when left to their own devises...  Handling these issues in prayerful, godly ways will have you overcoming in no time.

And in this way you will not only overcome... You will learn godly wisdom along the way.  Be an overcomer?
