CARRY THE LOAD

2 Corinthians 12:9
"And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."

The other day a friend was telling about his son-in-law that was a Navy Seal.  He said that when he was in the desert, searching out terrorists, his pack and gear weighed 140 pounds.  That is a tremendous amount of weight for any person to carry.  I'm sure it is a terrible struggle to get through a day toting that much weight.  But somehow they get through it.

Some of the most strenuous hunting I've ever done is elk hunting.  One particular part of elk hunting comes right after a successful time and harvest.  Often elk are taken far back into into the wildest parts of the country.   Generally there is only one way to get the elk out...  carried on our backs.  A few times we had elk to carry and we overloaded our packs so we didn't have to make extra trips.  When that happened, I struggled to continue to carry the elk through the mountains.

For many of us there are times in life that are like this.  The weight of this life just overwhelms us and we do not know how we can make it through another day. The single mothers struggling to take care of children while maintaining a job or college.  The parent facing the terminal illness of a child.  The spouse that has just lost their husband or wife to death. The small business owner facing financial ruin.  There are times we all feel the weight of life trying to crush us.  There seems to be no way humanly possible to make it.

The apostle Paul struggled with some weight in his life.  He prayed over and over again for God to remove it.  But God did something even better.  God told Paul, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." God carried the weight for him.

We will struggle, the stresses of this life will make us feel like they are so heavy we can't possibly take one more step.  We know that we aren't strong enough to do it on our own.  Remember that God sees all that we are going through.  Nothing is a surprise to Him.

It's in these difficult times, if we give the weight to God, that we are truly blessed.  These are the times when we grow and become stronger to face the weights of the future.

No matter what you are weighed down with today.  It doesn't matter if it's life threatening illness, the death of a loved one, financial ruin divorce or any other calamity.  God knows, He cares and His strength is sufficient to meet ALL your needs.  His strength is made perfect in our weakness.

It's OK to admit that you can't carry this life's weight on your own.  You have an all-powerful God that can carry any load, ask Him.

Let Him carry the load
