FOLLOWING THE LORD'S LEAD
Matthew 1:20-21
But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins."
Over the last couple of years, I've come to rely on an app on my phone called "onX". I have never been one to use a GPS, since there were too many steps involved to do anything with it, but onX makes it so easy.
A couple of tools that make life easier in hunting are the "tracking" and "sharing" functions. I can walk or drive with the tracking function on and leave a perfect path to later follow. Then, I can share that same path to someone else and they can follow it on their phone. Maybe I'm easily amazed, but that is awesome!
These maps that I share are only as good as the one reading them. It all depends on if they are choosing to follow them or not. The same is true for the plot that God has laid out for you and I: we can either choose to follow and live out a joyful life, or we can choose to go our own way and find no joy in life.
In Matthew chapter 1, we read the lineage of Jesus and see what happened with the directions that an angel gave to Joseph. Joseph was set to marry Mary and he found out she was pregnant... Unfortunately, that might not seem like a big deal today, but in that time it could be a cause for something as drastic as death by stoning.
Joseph was set to "quietly divorce" Mary, but the angel came and explained what was happening. Joseph still decided to take Mary as his wife; he followed through with the directions that were given to him. Joseph could have made different choices with what he was given and changed the direction of so much. But, he was part of God's map and His Kingdom plan.
What has God called you to do in order to further His kingdom? Have you followed His map laid out for your life without question? You and I don't know the importance of what our callings are in this life. Many individuals in the Bible followed God's calling and died not knowing their importance. Others didn't follow and also died — not knowing of their importance and of the blessings they missed.
When God has called you out to something, don't doubt your worthiness. God uses those that are small and unimportant in the world's eyes to do amazing things for Him.
Follow His directions.
