GET OUT OF THE WAY

Mark 11:23

Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be taken up and thrown into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted to him.

Jim was on a quest. He was in the mountains of Tajikistan chasing after giant Argali Rams that live in elevations between 15,000 to 17,000 ft.  There were times when the climb felt impossible. His feet felt like they weighed 100 pounds each, and his lungs burned and ached incredibly.

The mountain is often too much for many people to overcome. It is an obstacle that is too high, too steep, too wide, and too strong to conquer on our own. We all face many mountains in our lives and we struggle together through them.

High in the Sangre de Cristo mountains in Southern Colorado, there is a place called Whiskey Pass. On the side of that mountain, there is a hole that was started when someone years ago planned to create a way to get from San Luis, on the west side of the mountain range, to the east side, just north of Trinidad, Colorado.

However, those that had the dream to make the trip easier soon gave up. This shows little faith in what they were called to do. You and I have callings in our lives from God. We can have faith that God has a plan and the power to do these things through us, or we can quickly give up and fail at our calling.

Jesus' words in the book of Mark aren't necessarily telling us to go and move a mountain into the sea, but He is telling us that with Him, we can accomplish anything He calls us to.  With faith in God, all things are possible.

In Matthew 19:26,

Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."

What is God calling you to do? What mountain is it that you feel is insurmountable? Trust God, and tell that mountain to get out of your way!
