Teach The Next Generation

Psalm 77:11-12
"I will remember the deeds of the Lord;  yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. I will meditate on all your work and consider your mighty deeds."

If I remember correctly, it was about 20 years ago on a Canadian bear hunt when I saw the big cat. My hunting buddy had shot a bear the night before and by the time we got him skinned out and cooling down it was really late. The next morning after sleeping in, I stepped out on the deck of the cabin to enjoy the view and a cup of coffee. Not five yards off the deck stood a large Canadian Lynx. By the size of his body, big head, and jowls I would guess he was at least 40 pounds. I told my buddy to grab the video camera and as he did the big cat just waited patiently for some glamour shots. With a carefree confidence the big cat posed and then slowly ambled off.

Later when the guide showed up, we told him about the big lynx. He said it was most likely a bobcat, because he seldom had seen a lynx,  and when he did, it was always just a brief glimpse. We showed him the couple minute long video and the guide was in awe of what we had witnessed. It was a moment to remember.

Just like I enjoy remembering and retelling moments from the hunt, the scripture tells us we should remember and retell of God's power and praiseworthy deeds.

Psalm 78:4
"We will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done... so that the next generation would know them and would rise up and tell their children, the following generation."

Deuteronomy 6:6-7: "These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children and talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up".

Then we read in Romans 15:4 "For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope."

Pass down God's faithfulness and commands .
