Life Insurance

Psalm 104:10-12  "He makes springs pour water into the ravines;
it flows between the mountains. They give water to all the beasts of the field; the wild donkeys quench their thirst. The birds of the sky nest by the waters; they sing among the branches."

Back in the 60s, as a young boy on Sunday evenings, I would watch Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom and hear Marlin Perkins say something like,  "Just like the armadillo can roll into a complete, tight ball, protecting its soft belly with its outer bony armor, you too can have complete protection with Mutual of Omaha insurance."

All my life I've marveled at God's incredible design, and thought about how all creatures on the planet forage, hunt, reproduce and survive. As humans we are much the same, but instead of equating our needs and existence to getting Mutual of Omaha Insurance, we need to recognize our need for spiritual protection.

Spiritualizing everyday events, searching for a deeper meaning, and finding a special purpose, have all helped me to be more aware of God working. Taking ordinary moments in creation and recognizing God's hand in all of it, shifts my perspective from just doing to finding God in everything. This action has made it natural for me to speak about this and to put it on paper.

In Psalm 104, God describes the provision of water and habitat for all wild animals. This passage highlights God's care for all living things. If God cares this much for birds and animals, how much more does He care for you and me?
